Role Purpose:

The role of Risk Management Data Analyst is responsible to support all interested parties (e.g. Market / Credit risk, Credit Portfolio Management, ALM and Capital Adequacy teams) to identify, measure, mitigate, and manage ALM, liquidity and market risks by providing them with accurate, robust and updated relevant data from multiple sources and advanced analysis reports.

Key Accountabilities:

 

Data storage and maintenance

  • Maintains the data warehouse systems and performs regular database integrity, consistency and quality health checks in coordination with ITD / BEST and Risk management specialists.
  • Monitors the adequacy and effectiveness of internal backup and disaster recovery procedures of the data storage tools and systems.
  • Maintain users’ access to shared folders, reports, applications, and databases, as well as any necessary technical documentation, and provide internal training and support, when required.

Data analysis and reporting

 

  • Conducts in-depth quantitative and qualitative analysis of risk management information, covering various types of data (including ALM, liquidity, market risks, operational risk, scoring models, rating, etc.) to identify and assign exposure limits for liquidity placements and other financing / investment purposes.
  • Applies advanced Data Mining and Business Intelligence (BI) tools (e.g. SQL, Crystal etc.) in order to identify and validate patterns, trends, existing and potential risk threats etc.
  • Prepares insightful, regular and ad-hoc risk management and monitoring reports, presentations, dashboards, scorecards, etc. with conclusions and recommendations, to assist management and more senior team members make sound data-driven decisions.
  • Prepares and validates all external rating agencies data and reporting requirements in collaboration with the concerned departments and risk management professionals.
  • Addresses in-time all standard relevant internal and external reporting requirements by preparing and providing the necessary information in the requested format.
  • Develops and maintains online reporting dashboards and business intelligence reports in conjunction with the SAP-BEST, to assist the President and the BED to manage effectively the rating agencies’ key drivers.

Operational excellence support

 

  • Resolves in-time any relevant inquiries / issues addressed by various stakeholders.
  • Identifies and proposes improvements in risk data management and quality assurance processes, procedures, systems and tools.
  • Ensures that all data storage, mining, analysis and reporting activities adhere to respective IDB’s risk management policies, procedures and controls, as well as to any relevant legislative requirements. 

Job Requirements:

Academic qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Economics/ Finance/ Risk Management/ Mathematics/ Business Administration/Computer Science/Information Technology or related discipline
  • Professional risk management certifications – CFA/PRM/FRM/CQF or equivalent is preferred

Languages

  • English (mandatory)
  • Arabic (preferred)
  • French (preferred)

Minimum number of years and nature of experience

4 - 6 years’ relevant experience in the risk management function, with at least 1 - 2 years in Market Risk and Multilateral Development Banks
